There are many aspects to consider when publishing your research – and the library can assist you in several ways. In order to answer some common questions on publishing, we have put together a workshop where our four main focus areas will be:

Choice of journal/publisher

What are important things to investigate when choosing a journal or publisher to publish with? What measures can you take to avoid sketchy journals/publishers/conferences? Together we will look at different tools that can help you.

Open access

How and where can you find channels to publish your research openly? The library has agreements with several publishers that cover APCs (Article Processing Charge), which is the most common payment model for open access. We will show you how you find and use these agreements, as well as how you decide on which license to use and how you can parallel publish your work.

Research impact

How can you increase your visibility? What do citations, h-index and impact factors mean? We will show you some simple ways to create an overview of your research area, as well as some of the more important databases and social media to keep an eye on.

GUP (Gothenburg University Publications)

You probably know that you are supposed to register all of your publications in GUP – but do you know why? We will guide you through the different uses of GUP as well as how you can make use of it.

This will be an interactive session where you will have the chance to try out different tools and discuss publishing issues in small groups. The workshop will be held in Zoom and run by librarians from the different GU libraries.
