Increased login security for the Gothenburg University Library systems

On February 19, the Gothenburg University Library will implement more secure login to the systems where users previously logged in with their personal identity number. Starting from February 19, 2025, you will need a secure password or PIN code to log in. This change affects you who don't have a GU account and currently log in with a library account.

Students and employees at the University of Gothenburg will continue to log in as before and are not affected by the change.

Password for logging into My Loans, interlibrary loans, and printing

To log in to the service My Loans, where you can view and renew your loans, you will need a secure password. The first time you log into My Loans after February 19, click on the link "Forgot your password?" at the login box for library account users.

You can choose to receive a code via email or SMS to create a password. You will also use this password for interlibrary loans and printing at the library. Please note that the message is sent to the contact details provided in My Loans.

Ordering and borrowing materials

To order books and other materials from the university library, you will need a PIN code. This is the same PIN code you use when borrowing materials from our self-service machines at the library. If you don't remember your PIN code, you can change it by clicking on the link "Forgot your PIN code" at the login box.
