Publish open access without fees in journals from Springer Nature

1 July 2019

Starting July 15th, researchers at University of Gothenburg can publish articles without paying any fee in more than 570 fully open access journals from Springer Nature.

Springer Nature Fully OA is a pilot agreement within the Bibsam Consortium where the research funders (the Swedish Research Council, Forte, Formas and Vinnova) provide 50% of the publication fee during the contract period July 15 2019 – December 2021. The remaining 50% is paid by each library on behalf of its university.

GU researchers are already publishing articles in these journals and therefore paying article processing charges (APC). The agreement provides advance payment of APC:s and will ensure better control of these costs for the university as a whole. At the same time the individual researcher will find publishing open access easier.

Imprints included in the deal:

  • BioMed Central (BMC) (313 journals)
  • Springer Open Journals (216 journals)
  • Nature Research (46 journals, including Nature Communications and Scientific Reports)
  • Palgrave Macmillan (1 journal)

How do I do this?

As a researcher affiliated with GU you will be identified by the publisher when you submit your manuscript. In order to avoid paying APC you must give University of Gothenburg as your affiliation and use your gu.se e-mail address.

More information
